Studer A-827 Cat 3 Errors (Page 1)Revised: Greg Loskorn 3/27/99 Cat 3 : Non-fatal - Operation can continue. Error messages disappear when the error has disappeared. Messages can be acknowledged by pressing STORE, even though error may still persist. -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: MOTOR SUPPLY VOLTAGE LOW Cause: Failure of motor supply voltage Wait 10 sec. If error persists, check fuses F1 & F2 (next to power switch). Repair or replace SPOOLING MOTOR DRIVE AMPLIFIER 1.820.875 -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: NO COMMUNICAT. MASTER-TAPE DECK Cause: No response to the status inquiry Software on the MASTER MPU 1.820.784 not compatible with the TAPE DECK MPU1.820.781 Replace or repair the MASTER SERIAL INTERFACE 1.820.753 and/or the TAPE DECK SERIAL INTERFACE 1.820.763 -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: NO COMMUNICAT. MASTER-AUDIO Cause: No response to the status inquiry Software on the MASTER MPU 1.820.784 not compatible with the AUDIO MPU 1.820.782 or 1.827.788 Replace or repair the MASTER AUDIO INTERFACE 1.820.756 and/or the COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER 1.820.718 Replace the software EPROMs (IC 15,16,18) on each MPU. -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: AUDIO DATA LOST Cause: Audio data lost Cycle power to load default params Check the battery on the AUDIO MPU 1.820.782 Re-align from tape -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: TACHO SENSOR Cause: No output from one of the three tacho sensors: SPOOLING MOTORS 1.820.771, or MOVE SENSOR 1.820.770; the three senses of rotation do not agree, or no tacho signal from the spooling motor with a motor current of >4A. Check the flat cable connector to the sensors. Check the sensors and replace or repair them, if necessary. Check that the spindles and the tacho roller rotate without binding. -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: TAPE TENSION CONTROL Cause: Deviation of the tpe tension from the reference too large for approx. 1sec. Clean the tape guide rollers. Check whether the friction of the tape transport and the spindles is too high. Check the tape tensions. -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: NO COMMUNICAT. CAPSTAN-TAPE DECK Cause: No data communication via the parallel interface of the CAPSTAN INTERFACE 1.820.727 Replace or repair the CAPSTAN INTERFACE. -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: INCORRECT RADIUS MEASUREMENT Cause: The calculated radius of the tape pancake is outside the admissible limits, or tacho sensor defective. PLAY tape for a few seconds. This message normally disappears as soon as a sufficient number of tacho pulses are available for calculating the pancake radius. Check tacho sensor and replace it if necessary. Set the 'MAX REEL SIZE' to 14". -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: REMOTE SHUTTLE VALUE HARDWARE Cause: Incorrect values were supplied by the SHUTTLE pot during the init phase. The SHUTTLE wheel should not be operated during the init phase. Re-adjust the SHUTTLE pot (Section 3.3.12) -------------------------------------- Cat 3 : Non-fatal ERR: PINCH ROLLER SLIPPING Cause: The pinch roller slip is too high; the capstan speed does not agree with the tape speed. Clean the pinch roller and capstan shaft; replace the pinch roller if necessary. Adjust the pinching force to the correct value. ========================= |
