Mitsubishi X-850 Info

Revised: Greg Loskorn 3/27/99

SWITCH SETTINGS:
"CLK-1" Board Switches
 OFF = Toward front of machine
 0N = Toward rear of machine

SW 201
 1) SUB - Selects sample rate
      OFF = 48k
      ON = 44.1k

 2) FS - Selects clock source
      OFF = INT sync
      ON = EXT sync

 3) 9.6k
 4) 8k
 5) 60Hz
 6) 59.94
 7) 50Hz
 8) VIDEO

Switches 3 through 8 are used for external synchronization and are only
active when "FS" is on.

SW202
 1) EE - Electronic mode
      OFF = Normal operating mode
      ON = Diagnostic mode. Audio is routed through converters and back
out to audio outputs.  All LED's on "MOD-1" , "MOD-2", "CODE-C" boards
should go out.

 2) F.TIME - Selects the punch-in fade time
      OFF = (Normal)

 3) S.EDIT - Splice edit
      OFF = Machine will not error-correct a splice.
      ON = Normal operating mode.

 4) FM8k - Ext sync source. Used in conjunction with SW 201 #2

* NOTE *: When driving the X-850 from an external video sync, the clock
circuitry needs at least 20min of settle-down time before the machine will
sync with the external clock source.

"CLK-1" Board LED's
D201 "MASTER": Mast. cpu freq-48k
D202 "SUB": Sub-Mast. cpu freq-44.1k
D203 "SYNCHRO": Ext sync connctn
D204 "DUB": Ext dubbing connection
D205 "EXT": ?
D206 "MUTE": Audio mute condition
D207 "EDIT": Splice error-correction

"MOD-1","MOD-2","CODE-C" LED's:
 D201 THRU D204 = Indicate error-correction on audio tracks.
    "MOD-1"
 D201 = Track  1, 9, 17, 25
 D202 = Track  2, 10, 18, 26
 D203 = Track 3, 11, 19, 27
 D204 = Track 4, 12, 20, 28
 D205 = Parity error-correct

    "MOD-2"
 D201 = Track 5, 13, 21, 29
 D202 = Track 6, 14, 22, 30
 D203 = Track 7, 15, 23, 31
 D204 = Track 8, 16, 24, 32
 D205 = Parity error-correct

 "CODE-C" D201 = Indicates error-correction on more than 2 tracks at a time.
--------------------------------------
DIGITAL DUB FROM X-86 TO X-850:
 Connect the 25 pin 'D' cable from 'DUB OUT' on X-86 to 'DUB IN C' on
X-850. The input sample rate on the X-850 must match the sample rate of
the X-86 tape (see X-850 switch setup page). Clock selection on the X-850
must be 'EXT 2CH'. Input select must be 'PING PONG', and L and R outputs
on digital patchbay of X-850 must be patched to any 2 tracks desired for
recording.

DIGITAL DUB FROM X-850 TO X-86:
 Connect the 25 PIN 'D' cable from 'DUB OUT C' on X-850 to 'DUB IN' on
X-86. The input sample rate on the X-86 must match the sample rate of the
X-850 tape. L and R inputs on digital patchbay of X-850 must come from the
desired 2 tracks of playback. The 'DUB' switch on board 4 of the X-86 must
be on. The EBU/MEL switch must be set to MEL.

The recording machine gets it's clock from the dub cable, therefore no EXT
clock cables are necessary.
