The AIR microphone features an original capsule design by Gene Lawson. Using a variant of the popular Lawson L47 capsule, Lawson has created a microphone with a response shaped and tailored for vocal reproduction. Designed for broadcast, voice-over, radio/TV, and singing, the cardioid-only AIR's is equipped with a one-inch diaphragm with a three-micron, gold-sputtered diaphragm. The capsule's two diaphragms have been edge-connected rather than center connected for warmer and more resonant proximity effect.

AIR uses solid-state electronics, has a rugged design, and is great for both radio stations and studios. Like all microphones in the Lawson family, the AIR mic features Lawson's Quick Change™ capsule that is easily removable and may be plugged into any other Lawson mic.
