The Squeeze Box, at $495 retail, is a great way to get the sound of an electro-optical tube compressor. That's because that's what it is! Even though it has a "stomp box" sort of look, you get a truly balanced XLR output that works in any pro or home studio environment. The Squeeze Box not only accommodates musical instrument levels but also handles moderate -10dbv line levels making it just fine for semi-pro unbalanced tape machines or console insert points. There are controls for compression ratio, threshold, EQ and output level. I liked the big knobs and it's simplicity of operation. For more about it you can contact Retrospec at P.O.
