I tested the EON615 15-inch 2-way loudspeaker with 1,000-watts of power. I found it to have tremendous headroom and delivered loud and clean sound (max SPL of 127dB)--a pair would be more than enough to fill a medium size venue. The EON615 weighs in at 39-pounds with a case made of black polypropylene; it's fitted with a 35-mm (mounting) pole socket, three M10 rigging points, and four handles. Its shape makes it work as a main PA speaker, as a rear and side fill, or on the floor as a stage monitor wedge.

The EON615's performance comes from a breakthrough approach to waveguide design, solving the inherent "beaming" of conventional speaker systems causing a different frequency response for off-axis sound versus the sound radiating on-axis. Special fluting is formed into the cabinet structure that guides frequencies through their full range resulting in consistent frequency response throughout the EON615's 90-degree horizontal coverage pattern. This delivers uniform coverage and high intelligibility for the entire audience.

JBL engineers developed an iOS and Android app that pairs with the Bluetooth Smart Ready 4.0 in the EON615 for controlling master volume, adjusting a 5-band parametric EQ with the ability to save and recall user presets. The interface controls a 32-bit audio DSP subsystem.

I used the rear panel controls to set the EQ preset according to placement and use as either a Main, Monitor, Sub or Speech speaker. There is also a Master Volume with loads of level available and a built-in preset Limiter to protect the drivers. The EON615 has two switchable mic/line inputs using two Neutrik Combo jacks and the Channel 1 and 2 controls set the mix of those two sources.
