IsoAcoustics now offers the sculpted Aperta 200 isolation aluminum speaker stands that combine monitor speaker isolation with a beautiful aesthetic design. Isolating your monitor speakers' vibrating cabinets from the solid surfaces they rest on--your desktop or speaker stands--is vitally important. Resonances emitted from rattling, vibrating surfaces cause phasing-sounding audio effects, blurred stereo imaging, and indistinct bass.

Named for the Italian word for "open," the Aperta 200 speaker stands feature a stylized open frame design made of solid aluminum. They have a very low (3.5-inch) profile, come in either natural aluminum or black finishes and are designed to support speakers weighing up to 75 pounds.

Up to six degrees of monitor speaker up or down tilt is possible by adjusting two of the four posts that have fine gradation markings. You can match easily the angles of your left and right speakers using this measurement system. You can tilt your monitors back up at you from a lower desktop position or down at you when they are on freestanding monitor stands such as I have done.

I set my pair of black Aperta 200 stands on my monitor shelf--a six-foot finished oak plank shelf supported by Sound Anchor Model ADJ1 stands at each end. Even though the shelf is resting on small gel disks sandwiched between it and the stands, my monitors were vibrating it--not good. I placed my Adam Audio S2.5A monitors on the Apertas and then on the shelf. After rough measurements, I dialed up maximum down tilt on the Apertas and set the "toe in" angle using JBL's SpeakerAngle and SpeakerPro iOS apps.

It is easier than ever to make micro-adjustments in "toe in" angles and monitor placement because the shear weight of the Adams sitting on the Aperta stands. The rubberized tops and bottoms of the Aperta's four posts cause them to almost stick to the bottom of the Adams and also my shelf--this feature makes them resist accidental bumping or other movement.

Measuring in millimeters the exact location of the stand's four shock absorber posts relative to the shelf's dimensions and location in the room and then between each monitor produces a perfect equilateral triangle monitor solution.

The IsoAcoustics Aperta 200 speaker stands lift up and separate my monitors from nearby surfaces removing any possible mechanical or acoustic coupling. As if hanging in free space, decoupling your monitor's cabinets enables more accurate setup measurements that leads to great monitoring and sound.

Even within my acoustically treated control room, the differences are hearable as a more 'open' sound with enhanced sonic clarity and better stereo imaging. The Aperta 200s are winners and I highly recommend them for any project studio, stereo or home theatre system!

The Aperta 200 stands in either black or aluminum sell for $299.99 MSRP per pair. More at: www.isoacoustics.com/products/aperta-series/aperta200/.
