The Yairi family handcrafts Alvarez Yairi guitars in a remote Japanese mountain village. With more than six decades of experience, their meticulous attention to detail, supreme playability, and exquisite tone are well-known trademarks. The Standard Series WY1T is an ultra thin-bodied single cutaway acoustic/electric guitar designed for recording and live performance.
Available in three finishes: black, wine red, (pictured) and tobacco sunburst, the WY1T features a solid Sitka spruce top with hand-scalloped braces, herringbone trim, ebony bridge and no soundhole. Except for the black finished instrument, you get flamed maple back and sides and a naturally seasoned mahogany neck topped with an ebony fingerboard. The neck includes abalone inlays at the 12th fret and the headstock is finished with nickel die-cast tuning pegs.
Since the guitar has no sound hole, feedback in live performance situations is kept to a minimum while the included Fishman Aura IC system provides a direct signal ready for recording. The Aura has four discrete "sound images" derived from vintage and contemporary studio microphones, allowing players access to studio-quality sounds for recording and live sound amplification.
The WY1T is handcrafted in limited quantities using only the finest woods naturally air-dried to achieve maximum tone. Traditional, construction techniques such as hand-fitted dovetail neck joints and hand-carved neck profiles are used. All three versions of the WY1T are offered for the same price: $2,699.99 MSRP and includes a hard shell case. www.alvarezgtr.com.
