At the last WNAMM Show Roland showed one of most extravagant workstations I've seen in a while. The Fantom-G8 has an advanced sound engine, the ARX SuperNATURAL expansion bay, a jumbo-sized color LCD, a powerful new audio/MIDI recorder, and 88-note, ivory feeling weighted keys. There are also the 76-note Fantom-G7, and the 61-note Fantom-G6.
The Fantom-G's advanced sound engine has twice the wave ROM capacity of its predecessor and comes full of SRX-quality sounds. The new ARX expansion allows additional SuperNATURAL sound-sets and fully dedicated synth and effects engines to be added later. SuperNATURAL is Roland's unique behavior-modeling technology that enables a new level of organic, emotional expression previously unattainable in synthesizers.
The Fantom-G has the newly designed power sequence with 128 tracks (including 24 audio tracks) in a fully integrated audio/MIDI graphical environment all controlled using the large, 8.5-inch TFT color LCD. In 16-part multi-timbre mode, up to 22 effect routings can be used simultaneously with up to 18 insert effects per patch, plus global reverbs and choruses.
