Sony 3348 General Info

DASH LOCK:
-) IEEE 488 Cable must be connected between 3348 remotes.
-) BNC cables for "Sector Address", "Word Sync", "Sector Sync" must be
connected to "OUT" on DASH Master , and "IN" on DASH Slave.
-) DIP Switch 2 "MASTER/SLAVE" must be set to "SLAVE" (towards the left) on
slave remote.
-) DIP Switch 8 "LSB" must be set to "1" (towards the left) on slave remote.
-) Power up DASH Slave remote FIRST!
-) Power up DASH Master remote.
-) Displays must be set to "CTL" and "ABSOLUTE".
-) On DASH Master remote press "SLAVE", display will change to show current
offset between the two tapes.
-) Press "CLEAR", "STORE", "SYNC OFFSET". DASH Slave will chase to master.
-) That's it! :)

Formatting tape and striping timecode channel with the same numbers:
On machine:
-) Select the desired sample rate.
-) Select emphasis "on" or "off".
-) Machine must be in "Advance Record".
-) On "TC" Board, select "Rec Gen" and "Int".
-) On "TC" board, select desired SMPTE frame rate.
On remote:
-) All 48 tracks and the Timecode track must be in Record Ready.
-) Switch Timecode channel to "Input".
-) Select display for "Timecode" and "Absolute".
-) Enter the desired timecode time in the display and press the Up arrow
key. The display should change to the desired number. If it doesn't, the
timecode channel is probably not on input.
-) Select display for "CTL" and "Absolute".
-) Enter the desired control track time in the display and press the Up
arrow key. The display will flash once with the desired number and then
revert back the previous number. But don't worry, it'll show your number
when recording begins.
-) "REC MUTE" should be on as a precaution to prevent unwanted audio noise
from being recorded.
-) To record, press and hold "REC" FIRSt, then press "PLAY". The display
should now switch to the desired numbers.
-) That's it! :)
