AKG C4000B Condenser Microphone
by Barry Rudolph |
At a $848 retail price point, the C4000B represents a good investment for your studio. This full-featured condenser mic has the same large, six-micron thick gold-sputtered mylar diaphragm found in other higher end AKG microphones. Probably a good bet for most vocal recordings, the C4000B is transformerless with three polar patterns and a 12dB per octave low cut filter.
The internal windscreen protects the sensitive capsule from most wind or pops your singer can emit while the -10dB attenuator pad can be switched in to prevent overload from any extremely loud sound source. AKG has also made all electrical contacts inside the mic including the XLR connector gold-plated to fight corrosion and aging. The entire package includes the C4000B, the AKG H100 shock mount suspension spider holder and the W4000 windscreen for extra protection from wind. AKG Acoustics, U.S. is at 1449 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37217. Phone them at 615-360-0499 and FAX at 615-360-0275. |
