AKG Emotion II Series Microphones
by Barry Rudolph |
The Emotion II Series new dynamic microphones start as low as $98 for the model D660S. Each of these mics is tailored specifically for certain instruments or vocals. The D440 and D550 models are for percussion, guitars amps and loud wind instruments. The D440 has a mid-range and treble boost that cuts through the PA mix while the D550 has better low frequency response to capture bass guitar amps and baritone instruments.
The D660S is the hypercardioid variant that is made for any instrument and stage vocal use. Again the D660S emphasizes mids and highs between 4kHz and 8kHz. The D770 is a cardioid dynamic designed for vocals as well as many instruments. Pretty much like the D440 and D550, the 770 includes an elastic suspension system for the transducer element. This suspension system reduces handling and cable noise as well as acoustical feedback. The supercardioid D880 and D880S, along with the D770 are perfect for vocals and use AKG's patented Varimotion technology and a dent-resistant spring steel windscreen. All the Emotion II Series mics have high gain NdFeBr magnet structures, Double-flex® internal shock mounting, gold-plated XLR connectors, internal replaceable and cleanable pop filter and overall rugged construction. Prices are: D660S is $98; D770 is $129; D880 is $142; D880S is $155; D440 is $198 and the D550 is $238 MSRP.
