Blue Devil GX112 Guitar Amp from Behringer
by Barry Rudolph

Blue Devil German company Behringer, mainly known for sound equipment and audio processing gear, has started their own guitar amp line called Guitar Workstation. The Blue Devil GX112 is their first amp and features 60 watts of power with a two channel-switching pre-amp. The channels are called Heaven and Hell; clean and crunch sounds (Heaven) and overdrive distortion of all amounts (Hell). The all solid-state GX112 is said to simulate tube sounds by way of Behringer's Virtube technology.

Beside channel switching, the amp has a built-in, 24-bit digital effects processor including the Virtualizer and the Modulizer borrowed from Behringer's audio processor line. All effects are easily edited with only three, simple parameters on dedicated front panel controls (no menus to dig down into). Once you have your effect "dialed in," store it in any of 99 user memory slots. If you would like to drill deeper, you can use real-time MIDI controller data to change up to five parameters, channel selection, volume and wah-wah from any pedal. Effects come from 31 algorithms and can be combinations of: reverb, delay, phaser, chorus, flange, pitch shift, speaker simulator, rotary speaker, compressor, expander, wah-wah, and tube emulation.

A lot amp for $499 MSRP, more information about the GX112 from Behringer's Guitar Workstation Line is available at www.behringer.com
