CE 4000 Audio Power Amp from Crown
by Barry Rudolph |
The three rack space Crown CE 4000 power amp uses Crown's Power Factor Correction and patented Balanced Current Amplifier or BCA® technology. BCA was first used in the K Series amps and is a switching amplifier designed to be twice as efficient as other switching-style amps. What that means to you is that the amp generates tremendous power output with only one tenth the amount of heat you would normally get from a linear power amp rated at the same power output.
The CE 4000 will make 1,800 watts per channel into two ohms or 600 watts into eight ohms. The switching power supply cuts the total weight to 34 pounds and allows the amp to operate trouble-free all over the world regardless of different or varying AC line voltages. Front panel controls include: level controls for each of the two channels, thermostatically controlled and vari-speed cooling fans, short-circuit protection, Neutrik combo jacks as well as terminal strip input connections and NL4 Speakon speaker connectors.
