DigiTech's RP2000
by Barry Rudolph |
Digitech throws their hat into the ring of available digital guitar amp modeling effects processors with the RP2000. Using two DSP processing engines, the RP has ten resident amp models. There are: two guitar pickup models, two acoustic guitar simulations, three cabinet simulations with ten different mic positions, compressor and a whole series of studio effects.
There is a six-character digital display that provides a simple interface with instant access to all effects. A new feature called Rhythm Track has 40 drum machine patterns that play along for rehearsal. Like the other units in the RP Series, the RP2000 has DigiTech's "Learn-a-Lick" phrase sampler that lets you sample a phrase and slow it down for learning. You also get all the other RP effects including the newly enhanced Whammy pedal. The unit comes with a S/PDIF digital output for direct recording digitally to any digital recording device. There is even an XLR microphone input and output that permits guitarists to plug a mic in and use the built in DigiTech Talker effect. The stainless steel chassis with aluminum treadle make the RP a rugged and worthy companion on the road. The DigiTech RP2000 sells for $450 MSRP and for much more about the unit, contact DigiTech, a division of Harman Music Group at 8760 South Sandy Parkway, Sandy Utah, 84070.
