1951 Anniversary Precision Bass from Fender
by Barry Rudolph |
The Fender Custom Shop makes this limited edition 1951 Anniversary Precision Bass historically correct in every detail. You get a solid ash body, vintage pickup and wiring and step-drilled tuner holes all conforming to the exact same specifications as Leo Fender's very first electric Precision Bass of October, 1951. You even get the original and very rare form fit chipboard case the bass was originally shipped in...although a standard, hard shell case is also included.
Numerous original 1951 basses were used as reference models so the Custom Shop was able to recreate the exact shape and construction of the Precision Bass' maple neck and truss rod assembly. There are historically correct tuners, string tree, output jack cup, string ferrules, knobs, fiber pickguard and fingerboard dots, phenolic bridge saddles and maple finger rest. This custom-made bass will be made until December 28th, 2001. The Custom Shop will build to order through that time, and guitars will begin shipping in October. Serial numbers for this historic model will begin with A001. Fender Musical Instruments at 7975 N. Hayden Road-C-100, Scottsdale, AZ 85258-3247.
