Generalmusic's Equinox Pro
by Barry Rudolph |
The Equinox Pro is an upgraded version of the Equinox 61 and 76 keyboards but you can buy an upgrade kit for your good 'ol EQ 61 or 76 for $850 and add a SCSI port for $100. The 88-key version of the Pro has a fully weighted hammer action keyboard, an internal 1GB hard drive and comes preloaded with Generalmusic's PRO2 and FFT Merge Pianos.
There is 8MB of battery-backed RAM (expandable to 40MB total RAM) in the PRO and you can load/save directly to floppy or external SCSI drives. The PRO will read sample files in all the popular formats including Akai, PC, MAC, Roland and Kurzweil files. You will never run out of sounds since there are over 1,000 sounds standard (with 16MB ROM) with 64-voice polyphony and no note stealing by the independent 16-track sequencer. There are also 1,000 fully editable and pre-programmed rhythms for creating dance grooves and loops. Other reasons to step up to the PRO are: a synth engine with 128 digital filters with resonance; a drawbar organ with eight sliders and Leslie simulator; user-programmable arpeggiator; and 32 MIDI channels with 16 zones.
