Marshall Amplification will reissue a limited run of just 300 of the very rare (originally, only three were ever made) JTM45 Halfstack aka Model #2255HS guitar amplifiers. The offset halfstack consists of the offset-chassis JTM45 head and the 4X12 offset speaker cabinet with semi-open back design.
The original handwired tagboard circuitry and KT66 power tubes are used with an aluminum chassis just like the original built in 1962. The amp comes with twelve-inch Celestion Alnico speakers and the very rare rectangular metal, red block lettered Marshall "coffin" logo. (In 1962, Marshall was buying the logos from a coffin logo maker) The JTM45 also features the same black vinyl covering for both the head and cabinet, white/gray grille cloth and white front panel as the original.
The JTM45 sells for $5,000 and for much more about this collector piece, contact Marshall Amplification at 316 South Service Road, Melville, NY 11747-3201 or call 516-333-9100.
June, 2002. Update!
The original press release I read said you'll get covers for both the head and cabinet and a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity with a handbook all in wrapped up in a leather folder. However recently, I had an e-mail from a new owner of this amp and he tells me that Korg told him they are NOT shipping the amps with covers.
