Veillette Guitar's MK-IV Nylon Baritone
by Barry Rudolph |
Joe Veillette has the MK-IV Nylon Baritone guitar, a new voice for guitar players. The guitar is made in the classical style with a wide neck, 24 nickel frets, and a flat wenge fingerboard on a 26 1/8 inch scale. It is tuned from B up to B. The baritone is pitched between a standard guitar and bass; it is like the cello's relationship within a string quartet. The MK-IV is a good instrument for soloists, guitar ensembles or just self-accompaniment.
The MK-IV is a semi-solidbody acoustic/electric instrument with a bolt-on, 2 1/16 inch wide maple neck. The body is poplar with a figured top and finished in amber satin polyurethane. The bridge/tailpiece is made from wenge and the tuning machines are deluxe Gotohs. An Alvarez System 500A piezo-electric bridge transducer with pre-amp and three-band active EQ are the standard pickup and electronics. Options include: left-handed versions, custom colors and finishes, and choice of fingerboard woods. La Bella Professional Series Nylon Bass Guitar (set BG-10) are recommended. With a rugged construction and design, this is an innovative instrument with a rich acoustic tone. The MK-IV Nylon Baritone sells for $1,850 with gig bag.
