Looking futuristic and other worldly, Genelec's 7000 LSE Series subwoofers use a new invention that allows a smooth "laminar flow" of low frequencies from their rigid, tuned enclosures. The LSE 7000 Series (that's Laminar Spiral Enclosure) comes in four cabinet sizes with eight, ten, twelve and dual twelve-inch drivers. These powered subwoofers are companions to four sets of Genelec's most popular active monitors. The biggest, the 7071A, goes with Genelec's 1032A, S30D or 1037B active monitors and has a frequency response down to 19Hz, a crossover frequency of 85Hz or 120Hz (switchable) and 500-watt amplifier. The 7070A is for the 1030A and 1031A active monitors and uses a 250-watt amplifier with the same specs. The 7060A is designed to complement up to six of the smaller 1029A monitors and features a 120-watt amplifier for 29Hz response and crossover 85Hz (120Hz). Finally, the 7050A goes with Genelec's 1029A and 2029A/B units in stereo and has a 70-watt power amplifier and a 38Hz to 85Hz response.
Other features for the three larger subs include a built-in 6.1 bass management system, built-in 85Hz calibration tone generator, remote overload LED status indicator, LF response control, driver protection and a 1/4 inch bypass jack. Prices are 7050A at $750, 7060A at $1,595, 7070A sells for $2,250 and the 7071A is $3,500. Contact: Genelec Inc., 7 Tech Circle, Natick, MA 01760. Tel: 508-652-0900 Fax: 508-652-0909.
