Dave Mason Guitar from RKS

RKS Guitars, co-founded by Ravi Sawhney and rock and roll legend Dave Mason (Traffic, Derek and the Dominoes, early Fleetwood Mac), has a new line of electric guitars and basses that introduce, for the first time, the concept of an "open architecture" that allows the musician to change body shells as desired. The new guitars (Dave Mason model pictured) and basses utilize neck through body construction with precision-machined aluminum or ribs and molded body shells. These instruments combine the durability of a solid body design and the sound, resonance, and subtle qualities of a hollow body design.
The design treats a guitar or bass as a traditional form with a central structure to support the strings and solid ribs to transmit the string vibrations to the surrounding body. Open architecture design provides the musician with a core instrument that has all of the playability, electronics, and tonal characteristics of their favorite instrument, but easily allows changes in outward appearance, form or shape, and therefore tonal coloration.
The Dave Mason Signature model has a maple neck with a scale length of 25.5-inches and rosewood fingerboard with abalone RKS's guitar icon inlays. The body shells on the Dave Mason Signature model are chrome-plated with matching hardware including a non-tremolo bridge and locking tuners. There is a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 pickup at the bridge and a Pearly Gates at the neck with a five-position switch along with volume and tone controls.
