GoPro cameras use an internal rechargeable battery and record video and audio on an inserted micro SD memory card for up to 2 hours at 1080p at 30 frames per second. You can select between professional 4Kp15, 2.7Kp30, 1440p48, 1080p60, 960p100, 720p120 fps video formats or shoot 12-megapixel still photos at up to 30 frames per second in Burst mode. The camera also records audio with a built-in microphone and features a 3.5-mm mic adapter for an external microphone or music mix for shooting videos.

The HERO3+ Black Edition/Music (MSRP $399.99) comes with The Frame, GoPro's sleekest, lightest weight camera mount yet. (Seen at the right with the Hero3+ installed) This is a non-waterproof open holder that surrounds the camera and allows for great location sound pickup from the built-in microphone. Plus, you'll have the ability to leave the camera connected to a USB charger--as I did when I recorded a dashboard video of a two-hour road trip in my car.

Other accessories that are included and also interchangeable with any Hero3+ camera are: a set of removable Instrument Mounts--there are two of these that use reusable and easy-to-remove adhesive. (seen second from the right) I stuck one on my Fender Strat without damage to the finish and another on my on the top of my computer monitor.

The Mic Stand Mount (far right) let me attach the camera to a standard mic stand and includes an adapter for European 3/8-inch mic stands. "The Jaws" (seen first in the image at the right) accessory is the name of a fully articulated Flex Clamp with a spring-loaded clamp. This is gooseneck arm (3rd from the right) is completely flexible for getting just the right angle when mounting the camera to a cymbal stand, drum hardware or the rim of a drum, turntables or the edge of a table.

I downloaded the free GoPro App for my iPhone and iPad to control and view what the camera is capturing even if I have it mounted out of reach or at some distance. The app allows remote control and configuration of the camera's video resolution, frame rate up to 60FPS, still photo resolution--as well as time-lapse photography.

The GoPro's Wi-Fi Remote (sold separately) is a small keychain fob for simple play/record control and I liked this for recording meetings or rehearsals--a kind of "in the camera" editing.

Also free is GoPro's editing software called GoPro Studio. This runs on either PCs or MACs and offers a simple way to edit multiple clips into a professional looking video for your family outings or self-promotion on YouTube™, Facebook®, Instagram™ and other platforms.
