GIK Acoustics Alpha Series
GIK Acoustics Alpha Series--4A Alpha Panel
GIK Acoustics Alpha Series is a new line of acoustic panels and bass traps that combine effective acoustic treatment with stylish good looks. The very first one is called the 4A Alpha Panel Diffusor/Absorber and it is a hybrid treatment panel with a wooden face cut with a mathematical sequence of slots for the one-dimensional scattering/diffusion of incident sounds waves.

Each 4A Alpha Panel measures 23.75 X 23.75 X 4-inches and is a wood-framed panel filled with rigid fiberglass absorption material. The panel is then wrapped in fabric and finished with a blonde wood veneer fascia. The slots in the wood face allow low frequency waves to pass through to the fiberglass panel for better frequency absorption.

Installed In The Corners At Tones 4 $ Studios
The 4A Alpha Panel is available for sale direct from the GIK Acoustics website. It is made from 100% recycled materials and is environmentally friendly and doesn't use formaldehyde or urea formaldehyde chemicals. The wood-frame boxes are available in nine standard colors and nine choices of Guilford of Maine fabric.

I installed two pairs (four total) of 4A Alpha panels--two each, above one another, in the front corners of my Tones 4 $ Studios. I requested the off-white cloth covering to match my wall's color and the Alpha's wood panels match my existing absorption panels. I used eyehooks screwed in the back of each of the Alpha's four corners and then used tie wraps to secure the panels to eyehooks put into the walls.

The Alphas replace six foam pressure zone bass trap wedges--three in each corner. After measurement with Room EQ Wizard, the Alphas outperformed the foam with more control of the decay below 70Hz. In addition, I was now enjoying extra diffusion via the panel's front wood faces. I also love the look of the 4A Alpha panels in my corners--a part of my room that's constantly in view while mixing! Awesome!

The GIK Acoustics 4A Alpha Panel Diffusor/Absorbers come in bundles of four and sell for $340 or $85 each if extra panels are required.
