 Keeler Sound ReWave Natural Preamps
ReWave™ is an acoustic amplifier and feedback reducer for acoustic guitars. What? ReWave is made of maple and brass and fits exactly into the sound hole of an acoustic guitar. Called a natural acoustic pre-amp, ReWave is handmade, uses no batteries and requires no special tools for its installation. We did have to loosen the strings completely on a Taylor 655C 12-string acoustic guitar to pop in the ReWave--it measures about three inches deep.

Its clever design features four silicon mounts located equidistant around ReWave's circumference. By adjusting these, you can custom-fit the device into your guitar's sound hole tightly but without damage to the finish.

Once installed, ReWave enhances the guitar's sound projection with a tighter bass and mid-range clarity. There is an internal reflector plate made from either thin wood or carbon fiber (your choice) that is adjustable. The reflector is mounted on two beautiful brass rods held in position by two, recessed nylon set screws.

The reflector plate slides back and forth and offers a way to tune the guitar's body--its resonant chamber. Not only to reduce possible feedback but also to achieve a more compressed overall sound with tighter low frequencies. This will produce a louder amplified sound with a mic out front.

In our testing, my guitar player found the guitar's sound to have a crisper sound with less lows with the reflector all the way forward towards the sound hole. Moving the reflector plate further back--there is about 1 1/2-inches of travel possible--returns more of the instrument's original tone but at the expense of less stage volume before feedback.

I think the adjustment of the Reflector plate is entirely up to what you want your guitar to sound like and how loud you want it amplified onstage. Musicians who don't like piezoelectric pickups or don't want to bother with internal mics and pre-amps on their expensive vintage acoustic guitars will want the Keeler ReWave.

Experimenting with the reflector's position will yield a good compromise between good sound and a moderate increase in stage volume before feedback. My guitarist also found it easier to get maximum PA volume set for minimal feedback with ReWave installed.

The included reflector with ReWave is designed to give the best overall performance but Keeler offers slotted wood reflectors that tend to increases the attack and slow the release time. There are also carbon fiber reflectors favored by metal guitar players who want faster attack and release. I think Rick Keeler is ready to offer any advice and answer questions regarding your own particular guitar and desired sound.

Once you have it dialed in, you now have an option to use that great sounding acoustic more often in live performances and that is a good thing!

There are Keeler Sound ReWave Natural Preamps for bass, ukulele and, of course most acoustic guitars. The Keeler Sound ReWave sells for $279 MSRP. For more about it and to check on various options available, check: keelersound.com/products/rewave.
