With headphones and running on a single 9V battery, the cello can be attached to an MP3 or CD player. This feature encourages extra rehearsal by enabling musicians to play along with their favorite songs.

The cello was featured in a performance with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. World-renowned cellist David Geringas performed an especially written piece for him and the Silent Cello by Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür.
