Minarik Samhain Electric Guitar I have to say that one of the most unusual guitars to be seen at the NAMM Show was Minarik Guitar's Samhain. Coming in both Halloween Fire burst (pictured), as well as Gloss Black, the Samhain is a theme-oriented guitar whose inspiration dates back to the ancient Celts. The name Samhain denotes the beginning of the Winter Solstice, the harvest or Halloween. So it seems, both magic and mysticism are integrated into both the body design and overall look and feel on this instrument.

Inlaid on the fretboard is a traditional full moon with clouds but the fret-markers are not only marked with their actual numbers, but also as words inlaid letter by letter. A closer inspection of the lettering reveals that it's the same font used by Harry Potter. Whoa!

The Samhain's body shape is ringed with abalone binding that highlights a quilt-maple top set over a mahogany body. A rosewood fretboard covers a maple neck and engraved Tone Perfect Resonata pick-ups along with a Tone-Perfect Tune-A-Matic Bridge and engraved tailpiece are used. Electronics include dual tone and volume controls and the Jinho Imperial Step tuners complete the all-gold hardware kit.

The Minarik Samhain sells for $1,199 MSRP and $200 for the case. For more information, contact Minarik Guitars at 818-243-3733 or www.minarikguitars.com.
