The X2 XDS-Plus is a modern all-digital wireless system that uses no signal companding--a way to increase range performance by sacrificing sound quality.
I received the system and it took about five minutes to hook it up between my Fender Strat® and amp. The body pack transmitter clipped to my strap and uses a 24-bit analog to digital converter and transmits my guitar signal out on two separate frequencies. For running multiple systems at the same time, there are five different channel choices. I liked that the transmitter's nine-volt battery level is monitored (via a separately transmitted telemetry signal) back at the receiver so your sound mixer will know when it's time to change it. (Very Cool!)
I placed the tabletop X2 XDS-Plus dual-diversity receiver right on top of my amp and plug it in with a short 1/4-inch cable. It is actually two receivers and antennas housed in a rugged metal chassis that provide signal redundancy to clear out dead spots that cause loss of sound. I got about 300 feet of range (the system is rated at 200 feet) and the same sound and feel as using a 20-ft guitar cord. I liked that no pops or thumps occurred when turning on/off either the transmitter or receiver. About as simple, clean and reliable as wireless can be, this is great sounding system.
Operating on the 900Mhz band, this unit complies with 2009 digital television and FCC licensing concerns and can be used anywhere throughout North and South America. X2 XDS-Plus includes all necessary antennae, 9-volt power adapter and batteries. More at www.line6.com
