Available with both straight and right-angle plugs, the new Elite Series from Hosa technology uses high-end manufacturing techniques and the best cable and connectors to produce a cable comparable to far more costly boutique cables but at a much lower price.
Starting with materials, Elite cables use wire with a stranded 20-AWG oxygen-free copper center conductor surround by a foam polyethylene dielectric (insulator) for reduced resistance and low distributed capacitance (20.8 picofarads per foot). Lower resistance and capacitance means your guitar signal will arrive at the far end of the cable pretty much how it went in from the guitar--with minimal loss of high frequencies and signal strength. In addition, Elite Series cables use high density OFC braid and conductive PVC shielding for maximum rejection of external electrical noise. This conductive PVC and OFC braid combination aids to absorb handling noise for a much quieter cable.
I tried out the 15-ft Hosa Elite here at my Tones 4 $ Studios and found it wonderful with its sturdy construction and great sound. It conveyed the guitar's signal better than my other cables--I noticed less loss of highs and a little louder level. I actually had to readjust my amp's controls somewhat! The nice-looking Elite cable lies flat on the floor out of the way and wraps up easily without kinking. Like beauty and the beast together, rolling amp cases over it or walking on it won't hurt it either. I also liked the nickel-plated G&H plug ends. They feel solid when plugged into my amp and guitar--they do not come out too easily.
The Elite Series cables sell for $37 (5-foot) to $62 (25-foot) and have a limited lifetime warranty. For more information, check: www.hosatech.com/
