Hosa Pro Guitar Cables use superior cable and REAN® connectors by Neutrik AG to make an unbeatable guitar/instrument cable in a lower price range.
The cable uses 20-gauge oxygen-free copper (OFC) wire insulated by special PVC (polyvinyl chloride) covering and then wrapped in a 90% braided copper shield (Also OFC). This is all surrounded with a thin, 6-mm outside diameter jacket that keeps the cable lying flat and without kinks.
The REAN connectors have nickel-plated contacts to make a solid electrical connection and the housing is a zinc casting that stands up to be stood on or any other general mayhem a guitar cable typically encounters. I liked this connector's strain relief that holds up under thousands of plug/unplug cable pulling cycles and the rubber dust cover for keeping dirt and moisture out.
I received the HGTR-020 20-ft cable for evaluation and found it to sound great--in fact it sounded the same as my 5-ft stomp box interconnection cable I made using a Neutrik connector and Mogami cable. So a cable that's four times longer and has the same sound. That's an achievement in my book!
Hosa Pro Guitar cables are available in straight/straight and straight/right-angle configurations and in 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25-foot lengths. The straight/straight models range in price from $14.40 to $33.90 MSRP while the straight/right-angle models sell from $15.00 to $34.50 MSRP.
