Korg Kronos Music Workstation

Korg's new Kronos has nine different sound engines and something totally new for a keyboard--a solid-state drive. The SSD means that there is never any waiting while 'pre-loading' samples and sounds before playing.

The nine sound engines included with the 61, 73 and 88-key versions of Kronos are: SGX-1 Piano with key-off, damper resonance and damper pedal noise elements; EP-1 MDS Electric Piano that includes amps, cabinets, and vintage effects; CX-3 Tonewheel Organ that models a vacuum tube amp, Vibrato/Chorus effects and rotary speaker; HD-1 High Definition Synthesizer with PCM sampling and wave sequencing sound engine; AL-1 Analog Synthesizer that uses Korg's OASYS analog synthesis; MS-20EX, the classic MS-20 keyboard: PolysixEX with arpeggiator; MOD-7 VPM Synthesizer with wave-shaping, ring modulation, samples, and subtractive synthesis; and (whew!) finally the STR-1 Plucked String Synthesizer with traditional guitars, basses, and harps.

All this wonderful capability is intuitively controlled using an eight-inch color TouchView™ display. Kronos is a performance-oriented musical instrument for live and studio work and has a four-way joystick, ribbon controller, and two assignable switches located adjacent the keyboard. There are also 9 sliders, 8 knobs and many illuminated switches for real-time interaction.

There is so much more about Kronos I cannot fit here so check out: www.korg.com/product.aspx?&pd=598.
