Andy Johns Kit 1 is an expansion pack for Cakewalk's Session Drummer 3--part of their Sonar 8.5 and X1 Producer DAW software suites. Andy Johns has engineered and/or produced some of the most seminal Rock records in history. He is well-known for his drum sounds on Led Zeppelin's When The Levee Breaks. Andy's credits include Led Zeppelin II, III, IV and Physical Graffiti; The Rolling Stones' Exile On Main Street, Sticky Fingers, Goat's Head Soup and It's Only Rock 'n Roll. He also did Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.
You get Andy's hybrid kit with all samples recorded in 24-bit resolution and up to twelve velocity levels (layers) with six 'round robin' hits per velocity level. The kit is comprised of a carefully selected set of drums and cymbals. There are: a Pork Pie bass drum, DW toms and Andy's personal engraved Ludwig Black Beauty snare. For cymbals there are, besides good sounding hi-hats, three crashes, one ride, plus China and splash cymbals. Platinum gets you groovin' right out of the box with 120 MIDI grooves from the Platinum Samples Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) and Bobby Jarzombek. (Halford) libraries.
As a long-time Platinum Samples user, I've already used the AJ kits in lots of mixes running in BFD2 in Pro Tools and I love them! All the same goods here are now available for Cakewalk users and Drummer 3.
