I'm putting both of these together as they were the brain-trust of Mr.Leon Sylvers and Dick Griffey of Solar Records. Leon produced the original Shalamar with both Howard Hewett and Jody Watley. Dynasty was Leon's group after the Sylvers grew up. I worked as a utility engineer on various singles that Leon was producing. I remember accidentally erasing a bit of Howard's vocal (like about two words) when Leon pushed the tape remote back toward me. He had been cleaning the vocal track of some unwanted adlibs and did not "safe" the machine out (take it out of record-ready). He said "punch!" and I punched. (I think both our faults). Howard was totally cool and such a great singer; he remembered exactly what he'd sung and punched it right back in! No big whoop.
